Medical certificate
A signed medical certificate is required to participate in a Granfondo. Officially, the GP is no longer allowed to sign this certificate and you are obliged to have the certificate signed at a Sports Medical Center (SMC). The costs can be declared to your health insurance (depending on how you are insured).
The SMC does not simply sign the certificate, this is preceded by a sports medical examination. Participating in a Granfondo demands a lot from your body, but with a sports medical examination you can be sure that you are physically fit. In addition, a more extensive test can provide insight into the training work you still need to do to make your Granfondo a success. So very important!

Basic: €95
determination, height, weight, BMI (Body Mass Index), fat percentage (according to the four-point measurement), blood pressure, amount of cholesterol and glucose (with finger prick), function of the heart and lungs, function of the musculoskeletal system, if indicated lung function examination, if indicated vision examination . Afterwards we discuss the results of the individual sub-studies. All in all, this sports medical examination takes 30 to 45 minutes.
Basic with ECG: €120
this follows the same steps as Basic and an ECG is taken. This sports medical examination takes 30 to 45 minutes.
Large: €225
This follows the same steps as Basic with ECG and an exercise test is taken with exercise ECG. This sports medical examination takes 90 to 105 minutes.
Large with breathing gas analysis: €275
This follows the same steps as Basic with ECG and an exercise test is taken with exercise ECG. A breathing gas analysis was made during the exercise test. This sports medical examination takes a maximum of 105 minutes.

MAKE AN APPOINTMENT
A sports medical examination costs money, but it is oh so important to know whether you can participate in a Granfondo in a healthy way. You will be fully or partially reimbursed for such an inspection through the supplementary insurance of many insurance companies.
