This tour through the Dolomites is a spectacular five-day bikepacking trip through the heart of the Dolomites. Starting from Bormio, you cycle over some of Italy's most iconic mountain passes, including the Stelvio, Gardena, Mendola, and Gavia. Along the way, impressive mountain landscapes, charming South Tyrolean villages, and excellent hotels alternate. With over 500 kilometers and more than 10,000 meters of elevation gain, this tour offers a perfect blend of sporting challenge, adventure, and Italian hospitality. Thanks to carefully selected accommodations, daily board, and a unique route, all you have to do is enjoy the cycling.

This trip is not just about performance, but above all about the experience. You cycle through rugged mountain landscapes, along quiet roads, and past the most beautiful panoramas of the Dolomites. Every day brings new challenges and unforgettable views, from the hairpin bends of the Stelvio to the mystical atmosphere of the Gavia. Day 1 – Bormio → Merano

105 km | 1,959 hm

Ascent of the legendary Stelvio and descent to atmospheric Merano.

Overnight stay: Hotel Thurnergut, Merano.

Day 2 – Merano → Badia

121 km | 2,363 hm

Via Bolzano, Passo Laion and Passo Gardena to the heart of the Dolomites.

Overnight stay: Hotel Melodia del Bosco, Badia.

Day 3 – Tour of Badia

59 km | 1,439 hm

Local loop including the Passo Falzarego and plenty of Dolomite panoramas.

Overnight stay: Hotel Melodia del Bosco, Badia.

Day 4 – Badia → Fondo

107 km | 2,247 hm

A varied stage over steep mountain roads and the beautiful Mendola Pass.

Overnight stay: Hotel Bel Soggiorno, Fondo.

Day 5 – Fondo → Bormio

115 km | 2,759 hm

The queen stage with the Passo del Tonale and the rugged, iconic Passo Gavia as the grand finale.

Overnight stay: Hotel Funivia, Bormio.

The Dolomites tour is designed for cyclists seeking more than just scenic miles. This trip is ideal for recreational riders and experienced cyclists who enjoy long days in the saddle, impressive mountain landscapes, and the adventure of a multi-day tour from hotel to hotel.

Thanks to the daily distances of 60 to 120 kilometers and over 10,000 meters of elevation gain in total, a good basic level of fitness is required. You don't have to be a competitive cyclist, but you must be able to cycle comfortably for several consecutive days in mountainous terrain. The climbs are challenging but not technically difficult and can be ridden at your own pace.

Can the Dolomites Tour be booked all year round?

The ideal time to have this trip organized by CYCLOsportive is June (just before the heat of summer and just after the snow) and from September (when temperatures drop again and just before the snow starts to fall again).

What level are the trips suitable for?

The trip is suitable for all cyclists who want to work on their fitness during the winter period to give the new season a kickstart. Thanks to guidance and various route options, both experienced recreational cyclists and avid road racers are welcome.

Are the trips fully taken care of?

Yes. CYCLOsportive takes as much of the organization off your hands as possible so that participants can fully enjoy the experience. How big are the groups?

Sports medical certificate

It is not mandatory, but it is wise to have a medical certificate signed at a Sports Medical Center. A sports medical examination costs money, but it is oh so important to know whether you can participate in this grueling journey in a healthy way.
